WINNIPEG — The Frontier Centre for Public Policy is pleased to announce the appointment of Sylvain Charlebois, PhD, as a Senior Fellow.

Charlebois is a professor in the Faculties of Management and Agriculture at Dalhousie University in Halifax and one of Canada’s leading experts in food policy and supply chain management. He earned his doctorate in food distribution and policy from the University of Sherbrooke in 2005, following an MBA in agriculture and food safety from UQAM and a Bachelor of Administration from the Royal Military College.

Charlebois is widely recognized for his research on food systems, pricing, safety and security, as well as the economic forces shaping global food markets. As director of the Agri-Food Analytics Lab at Dalhousie University, he leads research on food affordability, sustainability and the impact of public policy on the agri-food sector.

Often referred to as “Canada’s Food Professor,” Charlebois has become a trusted voice on issues such as food inflation, supply chain disruptions, consumer behaviour and emerging trends in food production. His work bridges academic research and real-world policy challenges, informing both industry and government decision-making.

Over his academic career, Charlebois has received numerous honours, including Dalhousie University’s Researcher of the Year award and the Bill Braithwaite MBA Distinguished Professorial Award. He has also been recognized multiple times as professor of the year and for his contributions to teaching and research excellence.

“Dr. Sylvain Charlebois is one of Canada’s most respected voices on food policy and supply chains,” said David Leis, president and CEO of the Frontier Centre for Public Policy. “His expertise will strengthen our work on economic policy, food security and the future of Canada’s agri-food sector.”
